Here we are in the 8Th year of this new millennium already and I am not surprised that there are less and less monogamous couples that are headed to the alter for Holy matrimony. What I am aghast is the rate if divorce is still on the rise and now it exceeds 50% in the United States Of America. marriage was ordained by God as His worldly example of the family as He means it to be. There is a plethora of scriptural reference one can refer to to learn of the proscription for marriage. Before it escapes me let me say heretofore that very little planning is actively laid out for the marriage relationship. Yet there is meticulous detail and dissected perfection for the 25-minute marriage ceremony. Do engaged couples still consider pre-marital counseling by a trained professional as substantive value prior to marriage, ummmm I wonder, because whenever I mention pre-marital counseling the prospective bride and grooms faces turn near sour. Last week a young lady literally ran me down on the streets of a major city and questioned me of my ministerial credentials to marry her and her groom then, immediately. I was visibly confused as that has never happened before. When I asked them about pre- marital counseling their reply was etched their facial expressions, that said, what for and what's that.

They claimed to be in possession of a valid marriage license. I asked her, "why do you want to get married to this gentleman in this manner", her response was, because he wants to get married right away and I have to do what the Lord is telling me to do" I then asked her if she loved this young man, to which she stated "no" Needless to say I did not engage them any further. The young man was visibly upset with my questions, so much so that he grabbed the arm of his girl friend and stalked off, all the while muttering a few expletives. You think those expletives were for me?

MARRIAGE IS HONORABLE

"Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled.

But whoremongers and adulterers, God will judge."

(II Corinthians 6:14)

Unevenly yoked with unbelievers is for the born again Christian to adhere to, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion hath light with darkness? Marriage in itself presents more than its share of challenges to test the relationship without blindly ignoring that admonishment. That admonishment would also serve well the unbelievers who marry other unbelievers. What a powerful non working combination for future marital failure.

Let us return to Gods way for his institution of marriage. Invite the Lord into your engagement that He may strengthen your resolve to remain steadfast celibate until after the marriage. Keep the Lord in your marriage relationship for a strand of three cords is not easily broken. Husbands love your wives even as Christ loves the church, be ready to die for her. Wives submit to your husbands in all reverence to his being the under shepherd of your family. Lastly a family that prays together stays together-----in Christ Jesus---Marriage IS Honorable

A CRY FOR HEALING

“If my people who are called by my name,

Shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,

The recent spate of tragic killings that have taken the lives of innocent people has caused a cry that has pierced our ears and touched our hearts. A policeman doing his job; a grandmother cooking for her family; a teenager going to a prom; a 7 year old asleep on a sofa. Each has caused an outpouring of tears. Cries from a wife. Cries from a mother. Cries from a son. A sin sick city crying out for healing. A friend of mine was compelled to remark, “it’s ugly out there”.

Is there healing anywhere? Can anyone stop the rain? Is there a balm in Gilead? Is there no physician available? The promise of God is that if we would humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, He would hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land. We need healing today. We need God in our lives. We need Christ in our hearts. We need prayer.

Pray for our families, the mothers, sons, daughters and wives. Pray for our cities, townships, state and our nation. Pray for our community. Pray for our children. Please pray.
